MR in Radiotherapy 2025
Maximum participants 40: Therefore, register early!
This course is intended for medical physicists, radiation oncologists, residents, and radiation therapists/technologists who want to learn more about the application of MRI for radiotherapy.
Course format
This course will be held in Utrecht at the Department of Radiotherapy within the University Medical Center Utrecht from 24-27 March 2025.
The course includes lectures, Q&A sessions, clinical implementation sessions and hands-on workshops. There will also be demonstrations of workflows on the MRI simulators and MR-Linacs.
An overview of the topics that will be covered are given in the preliminary program draft below.
Course content
- Course content
The first part of the course will focus on MRI Simulation and will include general modules on the basics of MR physics and theory on commonly-used techniques, including MRI QA procedures. A range of clinical radiotherapy applications will be presented.
The second part of the course will focus on MR-Linac and will feature topics such as: physics of an MR-Linac, e.g. system design, commissioning, QA and imaging. A wide range of clinical radiotherapy applications will be presented, including MR-Linac workflows.
The course will feature 2 different workshops:
-
- Hands-on MRI – Introduction to MRI acquisition
In this workshop you will get the opportunity to become more familiar with MRI sequences using a virtual MRI scanner. The workshop explores the interactions between several key parameters that dictate an MRI sequence on topics such as resolution, scan-time and signal-to-noise. This workshop focuses more on the physics background of the MRI protocols and is best suited for medical physicists and RT technologists responsible for MR imaging.
-
- Hands-on Planning – Introduction to online plan adaptation
This workshop features a treatment planning simulator where you will have the opportunity to get familiar with the basics of adaptive planning and online treatment plan adaptations.
Throughout the course there will also be demonstration of workflows on the MR Simulators and MR-Linacs.
- Social event
On Tuesday evening of the course (25 March) you can join the social event. This will be a guided walking tour through the historic city center of Utrecht where we will stop at different restaurants to enjoy some food. When registering, please indicate whether you plan on joining the event.
Registration
Registration can be done through the UMC Utrecht webshop: MR in Radiotherapy 2025
The course fee is €999 if you register before 20 January 2025, or €1200 afterwards.
